What We're Actually Looking For
Budget Analysts
You'll work directly with department heads to build budgets that make sense. Most of our clients are in healthcare and education, so you'll see how your work affects real people. We need folks who can explain complex financial data without making everyone's eyes glaze over.
Financial Planning Specialists
This role is about forecasting and scenario planning. You'll help organisations figure out what happens if funding changes or priorities shift. It's detective work mixed with number crunching, and you need to be comfortable with both.
Implementation Consultants
We're rolling out new budget management systems across several Queensland councils starting August 2025. You'll be training finance teams and troubleshooting when things don't go according to plan. Patience and a sense of humour help here.
How We Work
We've been doing this for eight years now. Here's what we've learned about creating a workplace where people actually want to stay.
Real Flexibility
Some weeks you'll be on site with clients. Other weeks you'll work from home or our Bowen Hills office. We trust you to manage your time.
Got a kid's school thing at 2pm? Go. Need to start early because you're sharper in the morning? Fine by us. Just communicate with your team.
Learning Budget
Everyone gets funds for professional development each year. Conferences, courses, certifications. One of our analysts just finished a data visualisation course that's already changed how we present forecasts to clients.
We also do internal knowledge sharing sessions. No pressure presentations, just "here's something interesting I learned."
Honest Feedback
We do quarterly reviews, but you won't sit there wondering how you're doing. If something needs adjusting, we'll talk about it right away.
Same goes the other direction. If a process isn't working or a client relationship feels off, speak up. We've changed plenty of things based on team input.
You'll Fit In If You're Curious About Money
We don't expect you to have all the answers on day one. But if you're the type who reads budget announcements and wonders about the ripple effects, or who gets genuinely interested in how organisations allocate resources, you'll probably enjoy it here.
Our best hires have come from unexpected backgrounds. One was a former teacher who got fascinated by school funding models. Another spent years in local government and wanted to work on the advisory side. What they had in common was curiosity and the ability to translate financial concepts for non-finance people.
We're expanding our Queensland public sector practice in late 2025. If you have experience with government budgeting processes or just want to specialise in that area, now's a good time to join.
Fintan Harkness
Senior Budget Analyst
I came from corporate banking and thought I'd miss the fast pace. Turns out helping a hospital network optimise their equipment budget is way more satisfying than anything I did before.
Siobhan Quilty
Financial Planning Lead
What I appreciate most is that we're not just consultants who drop a report and disappear. We stick around to see if our recommendations actually work.
Dimitri Vassos
Implementation Specialist
Every organisation budgets differently, which keeps things interesting. You learn something new with each project, and the team actually shares that knowledge around.
Ready to Talk?
Send through your CV and tell us what draws you to budget work. We're not looking for a formal cover letter, just a few sentences about why this sounds interesting to you. We'll set up a conversation if it seems like a potential match.
Most of our hiring happens between April and September 2025 as we take on new client engagements. But we're always open to meeting people who are doing interesting work in the field.
